5/2/2023 0 Comments Mustang vibration at idleI’m about ready to call it and yank the engine but wanted to see what advice you all can offer before I do that. I used to have the motor in an 86 Mustang and never felt any vibrations when it was in the fox body. I’ve thought maybe motor mounts but I’d expect the vibration to be more consistent throughout the RPM range. I’ve thought maybe the exhaust is vibrating the floor but that isn’t what I’m feeling at 2k rpm when the steering wheel is vibrating. moving, not moving, in gear or out makes no difference. Does it shake more the higher the rpms or does it drift away it doesnt chatter or shake on engagement, but vibrates according to the rpms. If its slight it could just be because its new. I’ve swapped ignition boxes and still no difference. You can but shaking at just idle that is a violent shaking isnt normal. I’ve installed new plugs, wires, and msd distributor. I’ve tried two different balancers, flywheels, and clutches, all with the trans out of the car and no difference. I’ve removed the transmission, which made no difference. The vibration occurs around 2k RPM and can be felt through the steering wheel but smoothed out and comes back closer to 4K RPM but instead I feel it through the seat. It’s in my ‘65 Mustang with a 1996 Explorer motor, running a tfs1 cam, mechanical fuel pump, and an edelbrock carb. I’m trying to get to the bottom of a vibration at idle.
